Technical Services Engineer

Hands-on security, infrastructure, and project work across real client environments — from day one.

About the Role

Black Belt Secure is a Dallas/Fort Worth-based managed security and IT services provider protecting businesses across North Texas and beyond. We’re a small, focused team — which means the work you do here is visible, impactful, and varied from day one.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be parked in a ticket queue. You’ll be doing real infrastructure and security work across dozens of client environments — resolving technical issues, hardening networks, administering industry-leading managed security tooling, and participating in project work like network buildouts, server deployments, and cloud migrations. Over time, your trajectory here will reflect where your skills and interests take you.

This role is built for someone with 2–4 years of hands-on IT experience who is ready to move beyond supporting a single environment. More networks, more vendors, real security and infrastructure work — this is that step.

What You’ll Do

Day-to-Day Technical Support

  • Triage and resolve endpoint, connectivity, and application issues across client environments (Windows, M365, networking gear)
  • Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and firewall/switch configuration tasks
  • Use industry-leading RMM tooling to manage, monitor, and remediate issues remotely
  • Perform on-site visits to client locations in the DFW area when remote resolution isn’t sufficient
  • Document everything — your notes are how the team learns and how clients trust us

Security Operations & Client Hardening

  • Administer and maintain managed security tooling across client tenants — including enterprise-grade endpoint protection, next-gen firewall platforms, and managed detection & response (MDR)
  • Perform network hardening tasks: firewall rule review, VLAN segmentation, access policy enforcement, patch compliance
  • Conduct client security audits — identify gaps, document findings, and support remediation planning
  • Work directly with clients to maintain and improve their security posture over time
  • Respond to security alerts escalated through our managed vendor platforms and coordinate remediation

Project Work

  • Participate in network infrastructure buildouts — switching, wireless, firewall deployments
  • Support server deployments, upgrades, and migrations (on-prem and cloud)
  • Assist with cloud and M365 migrations, including identity and data workloads

Where This Role Can Take You

We’re a small team, which means growth here is real and visible. Depending on where your strengths and interests develop, there are distinct paths forward

Security specialist

Deepen into security auditing, hardening, vendor platform administration, and client security advisory work. Natural path toward a vCISO or security engineer role.

Infrastructure engineer

Lead network and server project work — buildouts, migrations, architecture. Natural path toward a senior systems or network engineer role.

Client technology advisor

Build deep client relationships and become a trusted advisor on technology strategy, budgeting, and roadmap planning. Natural path toward a vCIO or account management role.

Where This Role Can Take You

  • 2–4 years of hands-on IT support experience in a business environment
  • Solid working knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs), and M365
  • Some exposure to firewalls, endpoint security tools, or security concepts — security can’t be foreign territory
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ preferred — or equivalent demonstrated knowledge
  • A homelab, self-study habit, or personal projects that show you pursue this craft outside of work hours
  • Clear written and verbal communication — you’ll be client-facing regularly
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for periodic on-site work in the DFW area

We don’t require a four-year CS degree. We do require that you can actually do the work.
