Our Origin Story
Steve McClymont and Peter Vavrosky worked for years in technology and industry, serving clients across Texas and beyond. With more than 20 years in the industry focusing on networking, infrastructure, systems, and security, we struck out on our own in 2020 forming the cybersecurity MSSP firm, Black Belt Secure.
What's in a Name?
We chose the name "Black Belt" because of our love of martial arts and because of the intersection between the martial arts world and the cybersecurity world. Those of you who have been through martial arts will remember that your instructor likely told you that "obtaining a black belt is not the end, but the beginning." Just as it is with martial arts, so it is with cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is NEVER completed after x-amount of tasks have been done. It is a continual process. There are always improvements to be made, there are always policies to be enforced, there will never be an end to training.
We ultimately bring this philosophy to Black Belt Secure and we try to instill it in our clients.
